Week 4 | The 52 Project

Lucas:  Even though they drive you a little crazy sometimes, you love your sisters. I think you will appreciate them even more as you grow into a man. You are so caring and protective of them. I love that.

Soph:  Sometimes I forget you are only 9. You are very strong willed and independent – traits that will be fabulous when you’re older. Right now though, I’m reminded every now and again that you’re still vulnerable. Roxy (your teddy) comes everywhere with us. I love that.

Evie:  You told all your family you were saving for an iPad Mini. You spent your Christmas and Birthday money all in one hit – and you’re hooked. But you’re happy to share. I love that.

Charli:  You start big school in just over a week. You’re so ready. But you still carry your ‘wrappy’ wherever we go. You still run to me to give me hugs and you still have tiny feet – the tiniest in our family… I love that.

Soph: with your friends in the holidays.

Evie: Getting prepared.

Charli: Always laughing (when you’re not throwing tantrums!).

Lucas:  You’re a mix of caution & confidence. You know that you have great balance and co-ordination so you’re happy to climb the breakwater without fear.

Soph:  The opposite. Usually confident in all your abilities – except balance – terrified you’re about to fall.

Evie:  Hot and bothered. You just wanted to get into the water rather than explore.

Charli:  Ever the attention seeker… “Look at me mum, I’m a super hero!”

Times gone by

For the past two weeks it feels like we had been sucked back into a time warp; like we stepped back into my childhood where each sound, each smell reminded me of times gone by.

We spent a couple of weeks on the NSW South Coast exploring beaches we hadn’t been to, wading through the water to catch hermit crabs, learning to body surf in the waves (them not me), climbing the breakwater, eating fish ‘n’ chips by the beach, throwing frisbees at sunset, fishing off our friend’s jetty and there was ice-cream – lots of ice-cream. Here is one of the occasions we went for ice-cream. Apparently it’s a very serious business… especially when there’s a little wind about!

Week One | The 52 Project

Last year I participated in The 52 Project taking a photo each week of my children for the whole year. It’s such a great way to remember the little things that happen and watch them grow. So I thought I’d do it all again. Some weeks are challenging. We are busy & things are crazy but it’s worth it in the end.

Lucas:  Climbing sand dunes at sunset.

Soph:  Holidaying with your friends & family is the best.

Evie:  Collecting flowers & foxtails.

Charli:  With Daddy at sunset.

52/52

The final instalment of my 52 Project for 2015 is a little late. We have been enjoying the sea breezes of the South Coast of NSW. We escaped at the end of the year and arrived back in reality (& the land of technology) last weekend. I cannot believe that it has been 12 months since I started this Project. I’m so looking forward to publishing a little book that shows each portrait and how each of you has grown.

Lucas:  Always the clown. Happy to be a little crazy at Christmas time.

Sophia: Quickly becoming the ‘tween’. Loving all the Taylor Swift paraphernalia you got for Christmas.

Evie:  I think you loved making the inaugural gingerbread house but looking forward to eating all the sweets off it just as much!

Charli:  My little terror who is also pretty cuddly. It was all about sparkles & Elsa this Christmas.

Happy New Year everyone from all of us. xo

A portrait of all of you before the year ends. You have all grown so much this year & I’m so very proud of the kids that you have become. A little older, a little wiser. Still just as adorable. xo
