Sunday Mornings

It’s been so long since I’ve written here and so many things have happened in the past twelve months. Many moments have passed by but the little things still stand out.
How she’s grown & now loves the same things as her brother & sisters. Minecraft.
The way she giggles.
How her fringe falls in her face.
Her long lashes attached to those big brown eyes.
Her love of Skye from Paw Patrol and Grover.
The way she jumps on me every morning & gives me the biggest hug followed by “I love you mum”
in the most matter-of-fact way.

Love her.

STILLS: A Weekly Collection

This week has flown by. The beginning of this week saw me nursing my eldest back to health – again. And in turn he passed on the love & gave it to me. So this evening I am going to crash into bed early (which is so unlike me).

This week the weather has reminded me of why I love Spring so. Blue skies again, blossoms & no chill in the air.

But despite the weather, and perhaps because I have been feeling under the weather, my little ones have been pressing my buttons this week; driving me mental. In particular the little one. I do love her so. Really. I do.

When she was really getting under my skin, I took her to the local duck pond. Just the two of us. We watched the ducks & I was reminded that she is only 3. That she is testing the boundaries (which are a little flimsier as she is the fourth). As she held some duck feathers in her hand, she preceded to tell me that she would have to put them down in the grass so that new baby ducks would grow. I was reminded of her innocence. And she even made me giggle.

1. Blue Skies. Editing photographs lately is so easy to do when they are fun, bright & colourful.
2. Healthy. Evie is my healthy eater.
3. Cutie. My little niece came to visit this week.
4. Outdoors. Evidence of outdoor play when the weather is as perfect as this.
5. Portrait. It’s easy to take portraits of them when they’re 10 & they stand still. Although his smile masks how unhappy he was that I made him cut his hair!
6. Feathers. The little things… the wonder & the innocence. She told me that she would have to put them back on the grass so baby ducks would grow. Just like planting a seed…
7. Pioneers. Learning a little history & hopefully realising that things weren’t always as easy as we have it now.*
8. Cautious? Never. This little pony was a nipper but Charli didn’t know that until she tried to give it a pat. Careful little miss!
9. Peaceful. The opposite to when they’re awake.

* Ok so maybe they won’t realise how easy they’ve got it for a while longer but I can dream. If you are interested in some old time history, you too can visit Australian Pioneer Village.

Have a great week everyone. xo

STILLS: A Weekly Collection

I know, I know. I’m late. Yesterday, on a beautiful winter’s day, we invited some friends over for a barbeque in our back paddock. So I chilled out, relaxed and enjoyed the moment.

The camera was out though. It’s never too far away. I love capturing the joy on the kids faces. I hope they remember it forever but just in case, we’ll have reminders.

1. Oranges & Lemons. Our neighbour gave us some fruit this week. Grapefruits too.
2. Duck, duck… goose. The kids play a game with their cousin after dinner. The kitchen may not be the best place for this game!
3. Tickles.
4. High. You know that feeling you get when your kids do something a little dangerous? Yes, that’s it. How am I going to be when he starts driving?
5. Pretty. I found this skirt that Sophia used to wear when she was younger. Perfect size for Miss C.
6. Friends. Cheeky laughs on the weekend.
7. Clown cars. Maybe this could be one? How many clowns can you fit in a dune buggy?
8. Growing up. She looked so grown up this weekend & she’s ever so helpful.
9. Photography love. This is my bestie Emma. She loves taking photographs just like me. When we hang out together there’s always lots of laughs & lots of photographs. x

Have a great weekend everyone. xo

Yes, you’re right. My Stills Collection is late.

This week it started to get chilly. The change of season is upon us. The leaves are falling. The ugg boots are out. Hubby cut the first batch of wood for the fire. It’s nearly time.

It’s starting to get harder to get out of bed in the morning. You know the feeling, being all cosy & warm underneath the blankets. The chill in the air around you. The mad dash to grab something warm as you pry yourself up knowing that you are the responsible one. You are the one who has to get them all up.

They don’t want to get up either. It’s certainly getting harder to drag the kids out of bed these days. They take after their mumma. The days are warm and beautiful though. The afternoon light is amazing. And although we didn’t find the autumn leaves we were looking for this week. We did find some tall grass. And they stopped fighting for a moment & frolicked.

1. Cosy. Snuggled up in bed you pretend to be asleep but I know better. You have just put your notebook away after writing about the days events. You do this every night.
2. Tupperware. I haven’t been to a Tupperware party in years. I still remember going to them with my mum when I was a toddler. It was birthday week so maybe Charli will remember it too.
3. Friends. A friend of mine turned 30 this week (she’s a little younger than me… ahem). It’s so lovely that we get to meet & form new friendships through our children’s school friends.
4. Light. The light at sunset. The cheekiness of their little sister. Captivating.
5. Childhood. Exploring & picking flowers. Her favourite past times.
6. Cricket. The annual cricket presentation saw Lucas receive the Coaches Award. He was a bit chuffed.
7. Light. I love chandeliers. I wish my ceiling was tall enough to have them. Maybe one day.
8. Beach. We don’t live close to the beach but everytime I go I start having these grandios ideas that maybe one day we will.

I actually don’t mind Winter. I like that when you are cold you can put on layers to warm you up, light a fire, drink a warm cup of tea. Bring it on! (Nb: I can’t imagine trying to warm up in a country like Canada though…)

You might have also noticed that my 10 on 10 is late too. It’s been a super busy week with no signs of letting up. Instead I did a special Mothers Day 12 on 12. So stayed tuned. xo
